Land of Fallen Moons (Mu-Arishi)

The hundreds of spherical rocks suspended sometimes hundreds of meters in the air has become the trademark of the Land of Fallen Moons, a region of oddity since ancient times. Though it has passed hands hundreds of times through history, it is presently one of the many reserves that the Tengu own. The sun basks over the region, the temperate weather dry but not uncomfortable.

But unlike any other day, there is a crackle of electricity in the darkness of one of the largest held moons. And, for the briefest of moments, a tunnel to another world materializes, whirling with arcane energies, for the briefest of moments.

When it disappears as quickly as it came, three creatures are left in its place.

One of them walks out, looking around curiously before yelling, "WOOHOO! Told you guys the portal was there. Wow, this place looks amazing already.."

A young woman stretches, her arms cracking slightly. It had taken her so long to figure out how to get here, but she was getting really sick of her parents running off. Her excitement to finally get to this place driving some of her tiredness away. "Finally! Here we are!" She says, doing a quick spin, the cloak that she's dressed in spinning with her. It was one of her most valued possessions, it was only fitting she wore it now. It was great to stay inconspicuous. But now what? She had only been here for seconds and she was already feeling it. The air here was almost completely vacant of magic. She closed her eyes. She thought she could feel her father... Maybe. She wanted to find them, she was sick of getting treated like a handicap.

She opened her eyes again and looked at her two friends. They could fly, but that might attract a lot of attention. "So... What now?" She said, keeping her cloak up around her face.

The one who walked out ahead was a Young male who seemed to be around 15. He had strange green eyes and wore worn out and faded jacket and pants with an undershirt. Pausing to think for a second, he says, "Well, we need to figure out where we are and find someone who could tell us about this place. I don't think though we should exactly tell anyone we're from another realm or anything like that.."

Lura raises an eyebrow and smiles under her cloak "Really? I thought we'd tell everyone" She says with a bit of amusement coloring her tone. "But I agree, it's probably better we don't. So... Lets find someone to talk to. See if we can find out what to do next" She says, looking around over their surrounding area. A map would be really helpful, if she had one she could at least get a gauge of distance. Right now it just seemed like a waste of time to try anything. She knew the direction but that was about it. "Well... I guess we just start walking?" She says thoughtfully, once she's taken in the area a bit better

A third person walks out from behind them, seemingly in his late-teens. His deep-sea eyes surveys the land around. "Perhaps... that way? I see smoke. Perhaps it's a village?" He points towards a forest, but they see the orderly smoke of a settlement behind it.

Ephopset looks over to where his brother pointed to. He says, "Well seems good.. Say, will we be able to understand what anyone says here?"

Lura shrugs as she starts towards the smoke "Good start!" She says, thinking for a moment "We should be able to. I remember my mom came over here without learning any kind of new language. And I don't think my dad had to. But we'll see I guess" As she begins the treck, leading the group towards the smoke.

Ephopset follows her, looking around and keeping an eye open just in case there's anyone around them that could be spying on them.

As the three walk, a number of shadows pass over them rapidly. As they lift their heads, a trio of winged humans fly above them, gazing down upon them. One has wings as dark as the moonless night, one with lithe wings for speedy dives, and one with powerful, muscular wings that can fell trees. The one with the powerful wings holds a strange pipe, irregularly shaped--how could one possibly harm another with it?

"Hey, you! Humans, what're you doing here? This is Tengu territory, you're not allowed here!" the one with the weapon shouts at them.

Lura looks at their wings with surprise. Angels? No... No, they're probably these Tengu's. Huh. Well, they talked weird. But she did understand them. That was a start. She throws up her hands in feigned, but highly convincing exasperation "Oh my god we're all the way in TENGU Territory! Ugh." She says and lets out a heavy sigh, tapping her foot in frustration and bringing her hands down to rest on her hips. Pulling down her hood to show her age. "Sorry, we're lost. And, apparently, we have no idea where we are anymore... Do you guys have a map, by chance? Just so we can get going in the right direction?"

Ephopset looked up at the Tengu, specifically at the weird things they were holding. He bet though that his brother, Mason, would love to look at one of those things up close. He watches them for an answer, though a little tense since they were holding them much like a Musket.

Mason keeps quiet but eyes the strange contraptions they carry.

The three Tengu eye one another. "Huh. Just children," the Hawk Tengu remarks. "Where're your parents? You're smack dab in the middle of our reserve!"

"They're just children," the Eagle Tengu speaks. "We could bring 'em to town for a bit."

"Yeah, they're just children. They could probably do with a bite to eat if they're so far out here," the Crow Tengu nods in agreement.

Lura smiles awkwardly and shrugs "Honestly, I have no idea. That's what we're trying to find" She says. She had a rough idea of the location of her mother, she had no doubt that she was still flying under her mothers radar. She could pinpoint her magic in Lathirion, she could certainly do it here. Especially because there was almost nothing to get in the way. "That would be wonderful... Thank you so much. I promise we'll be out of your hair soon" She says, taking a couple more steps towards them and giving them a warm smile. "I'm Lura, it's nice to meet you". She really wanted to learn more about the people here. This was a land that she was trying to be kept from, she wanted to see what she could learn about it. And she'd never seen things like these.. Tengu.

Ephopset speaks up and says, "yeah, thanks! I forgot to eat something when we left.."

The crow tengu tilts his head for a moment. "...Lura? Where have I heard that name before...?"

The eagle tengu slaps his black-winged companion on the back before flying down, landing in front of them and swinging the strange musket over his shoulder. "Don't mind him, kiddoes. Follow me, I'll show you into town."

Mason smiles at the tengu as they land. "Thanks, misters!"

Lura looks at the crow curiously but doesn't say anything about it, giving them a warm smile when the eagle Tengu shoulders his musket "Thank you so much! It'll be a huge help" She says, ready to follow them as she looks around one more time.

The tengu escort the three children to the town, a small scattering of 1980 two-story houses and a few apartment buildings. Seemingly capable of housing a few hundred people, most of those out and about at this midafternoon hour are children out from school or other Tengu returning from their local jobs for the day.

Passing through the town is rather uneventful. Though they get some curious glances from the locals and the brief attention of those near their age, the presence of the armed tengu escort keep them mostly away.

They take the three children to a particularly large house atop a small hill. The few guards who loiter outside the front door only look momentarily, some calling out in greetings to the eagle tengu before returning to whatever they were discussing before.

The crow tengu knocks on the door three times. "Hey, Kukihara, you're not busy, are you?"

A voice from within the house responds, that of a woman's. "When is it ever busy around here?" The door opens, revealing the form of another crow tengu. She's easily 6'5", with jet black unkempt shoulder-length hair, two red eyes looking first at the other crow tengu then to the children, and back to the tengu at her door.

"Really? I take in a human kid and now everyone brings the humans to me?" the woman mockingly jokes.

"Hey, these kids were lost and they wanted a bite to eat. I thought I remembered you were complaining you made too much blueberry pie," "the crow tengu laughs.

"You're not wrong, smartass," Kukihara chuckles under her breath. Nodding her head at the three children, she adds. "Come on in. You kids said you were lost, right? I'll pull up the map once you've got a bite to eat."

Ephoset nods and says, "Yeah we're really loss miss.." He walks into the house with the other two, glancing around curiously inside the house.

Lura takes a careful look of everything around them as they walk. Gaining everything she can. When she's given attention from those near her age she smiles at them. She hadn't seen people around her age here, it was nice. She didn't mind this village much though the fact they were getting an armed escort didn't go beyond her. She decided she'd come back out once they figured things out and interact a little, try to learn a little more.

She watched the exchange, too. With a bit of amusement. Almost immediately taking a liking to Kukihara. "Sorry, miss... Thank you very much" She says, smiling at her as she walks in, not looking around the house yet but she looks up to Kukihara. "I'm Lura... This is Mason and Ephoset" She says, gesturing to them. Curtseying politely to Kukihara. "Thank you for helping us"
