| (Since I have no idea if people will read this until the end or only go to it as needed, I’m saying this at the beginning. You can make characters for this faction. Any character in a minor position: soldier, civilian, miner, etc. does not need to be run by me. I’ll look at it later to make sure it checks out with the faction’s lore. Any character who has the rank of a ship captain or above must be run by me first. I’m fine with changing some of the already existing characters and adding onto the royal family if you want one of the already taken positions.)
Name: Children of Steel
Government: Kingship. Everyone serves the king or queen who directly controls the entire nation. This includes corporations, the military, and other large entities who could have power. The rulers are elected by the people for life, or until the ruler steps down, and the leadership often run in bloodlines but not always. The leadership itself is kept in check by a group of twelve nobles, known as “The Melters,” who can depose the ruler if they believe it to be just and come to a majority agreement about it. They can, at any point, demand a full report from the ruler, check their accounts, and do whatever non-torturous means necessary to investigate the leadership’s actions. However, a trial must be held to remove the king from power. This trial is held in a random court. This can be anywhere from a grand court that would handle inter planetary disputes, to a small town courthouse. This allows for a random jury and poses to give the common man more power in the jury. Also, any noble who chooses to become a Melter can never be elected to the ruler, even if they step down from the position. This extends to their immediate family. This helps prevent the “Melters” from overthrowing the rulers to put themselves on the thrown. However, trying to put one of their friends on the throne is completely possible. The Melters themselves are elected yearly, but can run for reelection for as long as they want.
The king, or queen, has total authority. However, directly managing minor town affairs would be insane. As such, there are governors who control each sector, planet, and major territory division upon the planets. All the way down to single small towns. And each governor is controlled by their own Melters. However, the smaller the area the governor controls, the less likely it is that the Melter is a noble. The governors are also elected, like the rulers, for life.
Beyond internal affairs, Melters also serve as foreign diplomats, judicators, and the ruler’s personal cabinet. As such, each one usually has a specific set of skills, such as excellent mercantilism or diplomacy.

Economic Status: Currently the Children of Steel are in a decent amount debt with itself. This is due to the rapid expansion that the kingdom has been undergoing in this age of exploration. With many worlds being colonized, it’s incurred a large hole of debt. However, this was expected and is not unpopular as people have faith in the current king that he will be able to start bringing a turn around. The king, to plan for an economic turn-around and for future expansion, has called a conference of many the Melters, planetary heads, corporate representatives, many of the noble families, and military representatives to be held two weeks after the RP starts. However, various prospects for mining opportunities look bright for economic expansion as each system is meticulously scanned for valuable resources. Obviously, the construction and expansion portions of the economy is booming.
Major Corporations: 1. Steel Flotilla: Headed by the young Roy Raqtar, age 25, he’s built a powerful economic empire that has been largely responsible for much of the Children of Steel’s military fleet and is now investing in a solid portion of its recent colonies in the way of transport, basic housing, mining, and farming. 2. Sun Flare: Headed by Jane Nett, age 33, holds a powerful mining corporation that searches out valuable minerals and also funds many of the colonizing operations. Recently, she’s had an argument with Roy, who has been using some of the mining ships he usually sells to her and mining minerals for himself. 3. Derlav’s Diver: Famed for inventing an excellent drill, Derlav Rider has carved out a significantly smaller but extremely skilled group that has made eager gains in Nett’s market. He produces the mining ships and equipment himself and created a decent fleet. He also has begun investing in the new colonies. 4. Plasma: A short, brief, and literal, name by the aged Grit Dawn, 120 years old. Known as the plasma genius, Grit has invented and then produced the modern plasma equipment used in everything from weapons to ship generators to microwaves. His greatest invention was the Sol. Core. (more on that later…perhaps)
Military Power: The Children of Steel have a solid military force that is quite well trained. They don’t have high numbers, but there’s nothing to scoff at either. Overall, they’re moderate in their forces. Their ships focus on using their plasma weapons to their maximum effect. They also have a significant number of redundant systems, even to the point where their battleships and heavy cruisers have redundant drive cores. This can…lead to issues when all drive cores decide to be active all at once. The other thing to note of positive effect are their engines. While they aren’t more efficient than other designs, they can withstand more power being put to them. This leads to a higher overall cruising speed, allowing their ships to be fairly nimble. What the ships lack is defenses. Missiles have an easier time swooping around the point defense, ships are often significantly less armored due to the basic materials they are made of. They also have significantly less shields than many other factions. That’s one of the reasons that there are redundant systems on the ships. Even if the ships are smashed down to relative husks, a decent amount of the time, they can still retreat out of the battle and even the system.
Worlds and Interesting Places: There are fifteen habitable worlds currently under the reign of the Children of Steel. 1. Home of Steel: Ruled by King Noya. The capital world of the Children of Steel. Here you can find packed metropolises with vast tracks of open land in between each city. The capitol city itself is full of towering spires and underground homes. All of it is brilliantly painted in various schemes and designs. There doesn’t seem to be any particular theme to the painting and is simply all over the place. Whenever the paint begins to fade, they simply paint over it again. Notable structures: King’s Keep: A gold and black building that sprawls at the center of the capital with large interior parks and decorative halls. It’s the only building that is consistently kept the same colors. The Melting Towers: Twelve towers painted in various colors that surround the King’s Keep. They are the homes of the Melters. Both the pillars and destroyers of the rulers. In total, if the keep is included, they make thirteen, a lucky number in society. However, the design of the towers is consistently flames. There is also the grand library, courthouse, and space port. There are several orbital platforms that transit people from the surface to the orbital construction yards or into the rest of the kingdom. 2. Home of Blades: Governed by Noble Jauck Trast Known chiefly for its military academy, the Home of Blades was the first colony of the Children of Steel. It also has many tightly packed cities that sprawl across the planet. These too, are thoroughly painted. Notable structures: Rickah’s Military Academy: Named after the famed female noble general Rickah. The structure is repainted yearly, but the pictures they depict are always grim and great battles that have been seen over the centuries. The academy itself has produced many skilled generals and attracted multiple military training grounds. Thus the planet earned its name, Home of Blades. 3. Home of Thrust: Governed by Noble Erwin Verract Like the other five core worlds, Home of Thrust has a significant number of large cities. Orbiting the planet are numerous dockyards that provide a significant number of ships for the military, colonizing, and trade across the kingdom. Thus its name. 4. Home of Accord: Governed by Noble Yinwa Brandt Named for the Treaty of Accord that was signed after the civil war that occurred after the first six planets were colonized. The peace was agreed upon the planet. To this day, the planet has been known for its tranquility and lack of hostile life. Notable Structures: Trikt Embassy: Beyond King’s Keep, Trikt Embassy is the main diplomatic building for the empire and is usually the place all foreign diplomats are brought to or go to for any dealings that do not directly require the current ruler. It is also the place that first contact negotiations are held. The Children of Steel paint the building in bright colors to show friendliness and acceptance. 5. Home of Plasma: Governed by Krista Rastin The last of the core worlds, Home of Plasma saw the true birth of plasma technology. While plasma tech has been around for centuries, it hadn’t truly been accessible to the general public due to expenses and lack of miniaturizing. Much of that development happened here. As fate would have it, it is also the birthplace of Grit Dawn, the scientist and entrepreneur who invented the Sol. Core. Notable Structures: Plasma Corp. HQ: Hosting multiple, underground particle accelerators and Sol. Generators, the Plasma Corp. HQ freely lets these facilities be used by scientists who hope to advance the current technology. It is also the least painted building, that the Children of Steel have made, in the Kingdom. 6. Home of Rings: Governed by Noble Terran Volman. One of three worlds where nothing notable happened to gain its name. Not nearly as developed as the core worlds, Home of Rings is most notable for the fact that the system has only one planet, which is habitable. The rest of the system are rings of asteroids that surround the planet on both sides. Scientists are trying to discover why the system developed so uniquely. 7. Home of Stones: Governed by Noble Bast Horus. The second world with nothing of notable deeds to its name. When it was discovered, images showed a significant number of structures upon the planet. Upon closer inspection, they were revealed to be large cities of ancient stone buildings that have been, somehow, preserved for the centuries. A popular tourist destination and historical oddity, many have wondered what happened to these ancient people. (*NOTE* This is not intended to hint towards some ancient faction that will rise from the depths and into this RP. It’s simply meant to add to the Children of Steel and show that cultures could have risen and fallen on planets before other factions colonize them. If someone wants to do that, and use this planet, come talk to me and maybe I’ll agree with it.) Notable structures: The ancient cities themselves, which have been left as they were and have not been inhabited by the Children of Steel, who wish to preserve the buildings as they were. As such, all cities and towns have been built in other areas. These stone buildings are the least painted buildings in the kingdom, as there is none at all. 8. Home of Shields: Governed by Noble Urvick Gratch. Named for a battle that happened near the end of the civil war where the Melter rebel fleet held out against the King’s fleet in a furious defensive action. This battle was decisive and would lead to the following treaty at the planet, Home of Accord. Notable structures: Monument of Shield. A monument of a great 9. Home of Souls: Governed by Noble Tivick Hordon. A relatively normal planet that has produced an unusual amount of skilled artists. Artists being in the general sense covering painters, writers, musicians, etc. The planet is, however, quite scenic with sweeping mountains, lush forests, along with diverse and unique wildlife. The governor is currently working to preserve vast tracks of land, relying on tourism and interested biologists to help fund the change. It is named as such for the simple, often inter species, cliché that art speaks to the soul. 10. Home of 1: Governed by Noble Heera Lock. 11. Home of 2: Governed by Noble Yin Khan. 12. Home of 3: Governed by Noble Nim Khan. 13. Home of 4: Governed by Layl Hondor. 14. Home of 5: Governed by Noble Oboro Syndar. 15. Home of 6: Governed by Noble Bran Madar. The remaining planets are mostly newly colonized with nothing of true note to them beyond terrain.
Kolkak Nebula: A nebula of a star that fully detonated relatively recent (last 200 years). With such a unique opportunity, research vessels have flocked to the area. This nebula is fairly deep in the Children’s of Steel territory, but the gate to it was only found recently.
Religious Beliefs: N/A
Race: Child of Steel. A humanoid race that stands on an average of six feet, usually have olive or tan skin, and strange ridges, like mountain ranges upon a map, that spiral across their body. They’re fairly smooth and could be mistaken for many scars when looked at. They have fanged teeth that and catlike eyes. Their bodies are five fingers that are about an inch longer than the average human, and three toes. The people themselves are strangely, but powerfully, resistant to heat, which is good as their ships often run quite hot.
Force Declaration Sheet: (I would like an example of this so I can see a scale as to what is considered a large force or not)
(I’m debating about writing up a history…eh, maybe later)

| Children of Steel Cast (Please note that most of the information that is on these characters is, usually, easily accessible information. So if one turns out to be a traitor, don’t be surprised. Also note that much of the information is subject to change as not all character bios have been filled out. Characters will be added as needed/wanted.)
The Royal Family:
Name: King Jinta Noya the Strong Age: 45 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: A towering 6’9’’ with raven black hair, Jinta Noya is the third Noya to sit upon the throne since the outer colonies rebelled. Imperious, stern, his piercing black eyes are often able to stop the most enraged noble with a mere glance. He leads the Children of Steel with a seriousness that can be best described as gravely positive. The future looks fairly bright to him, but something rests in the back of his mind. Elected at age 18, Jinta Noya is the third youngest king to be crowned. He trusts his wife, Meldiin, above all others.
Name: Queen Meldiin Noya Age: 43 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: An average 6’ with raven black hair, Meldiin Noya married Jinta as he ascended the throne, making her the youngest queen upon the throne. Unswervingly loyal to Jinta, she has often taken many diplomatic missions in his name and is often the intermediary between him and his children. Her red eyes are just as strong as her husband’s and she walks with the grace of moonlight upon water.
Name: Prince Rayn Noya Age: 21 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: A balance between his mother and father in all things, Rayn, standing 6’5’’ with the Noya raven hair, is the heir apparent. He often walks with his mother and father, attending their meetings while forging his own connections with many of those of power in the kingdom. Rayn’s dark, crimson eyes burn grimly when he is faced with a challenge. His father often provides him with such challenges, preparing him for when he may ascend the throne.
Name: Princess Seleena Noya Age: 19 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Her father, mother, and brother all working to advance the kingdom, Seleena often found herself looking after her younger siblings. They are her sole focus and often take her full attention. Standing 5’7’’, Seleena is the shortest Noya sporting their raven hair. In whatever free time she can muster, Seleena reads and studies archeology. Someday, she hopes to study the ancient ruins upon Home of Stones and of other civilizations across the galaxy. Her eyes are a soft, earthy, dark red.
Name: Prince Garth Noya the Willful (Yackt Reyu) Age: 16 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The most chaotic of the Noyas, Garth stands at a solid 6’2’’ and still has some growing to do under that raven head. Willful to almost a fault and in the inane rebellious stage of a teen, Garth left his home secretly two weeks before the start of the rp, leaving only a letter to Seleena. In truth, Garth feels lonely and neglected by his parents and seeks adventure to grab their attention. With his clever intellect, Garth was able to fake his own papers and lie his way onto an exploration cruiser as Yackt Reyu and serves under Captain Krix Varz as one of his engineers. His eyes are bright as flames, eager for new knowledge to devour.
Name: Princess Trista Noya Age: 15 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The 2nd most chaotic of the Noyas, Trista stands around 5’9’’ with the traditional Noya hair. She also suffers from the same loneliness that Garth does, but doesn’t have the gall or courage to up and abandon her home. However, that hasn’t stopped her from repainting half the walls, curtains, tapestries, and everything else in the castle a lurid shade of yellow. The artist of the family, Trista’s black eyes are often bored looking save when she’s painting or pranking.
The Melters:
Name: Noble Meyreen Noya Age: 23 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Meyreen is the youngest adult to ever be elected a Melter. The most hot-headed of them, she isn’t afraid to clash with the other Melters and her third cousin the king. As her relation to him is distant enough, she is allowed to be a Melter, although she still sports raven hair at the top of her 6’ body. Her eyes are bright blue and her military background has lent the king no small amount of leverage inside the military.
Name: Noble Brast Yandra Age: 56 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Mei Brackt Age: 78 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Tristain Tract Age: 78 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Miir Verract Age: 44 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Part of the Verract family, which is known for its continuous service to the king throughout the centuries and the oldest noble family. Oddly enough, no Verract has ever tried to be elected to the throne itself. Miir herself, 5’8’’ with auburn hair and brown eyes, moves with a proper seriousness and is often the foreign diplomat responsible for treating with other races. She is quite the fan of tea.
Name: Noble Garth Verract Age: 107 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Miir’s father and mentor Garth’s political career has been quite distinguished with corporate settlements, war prevention, and generally an excellent civil servant. It is often regarded that Garth is the right hand of the king and also a father and grandfather to the family as a whole. A genial old man with silver hair and crinkly brown eyes who takes his tea in the afternoon while watching a sunshower.
Name: Noble Ilia Yandera Age: 60 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Mordat Hyouka Age: 34 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Kireen Austar Age: 35 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Vect Madar Age: 12 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The child Melter. A traditional role dating back to medieval times when it was agreed that children should have some sort of voice in politics so that they themselves are not taking advantage. While this role is significantly more honorary today, Vect takes it with the utmost child seriousness he can muster and often is seen walking the streets with an entourage of guards and children as he plays with them and listens to their concerns and wishes. 4’ tall, blue hair and bright green eyes, Vect is an excitable young lad.
Name: Noble Anya Garmin Age: 67 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Drack Thresher Age: 41 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Planetary Governors:
Name: Noble Jauck Trast Age: 54 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Erwin Verract Age: 27 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Miir’s son and governor of the planet where the Verract’s moved to after the space age took off. There has always been a Verract governor there since the colony was established. Erwin himself, who inherits the brown hair and eyes of his mother, stands at a modest 5’11’’. Gentle as a cooling breeze and kindhearted, Erwin feels that the Children of Steel ought to keep peaceful relations with itself and other nations. Currently, he is searching for a wife and enjoys a cup of tea before bed, but makes certain that his business of the day is concluded before then.
Name: Noble Yinwa Brandt Age: 39 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Krista Rastin Age: 22 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Both the youngest planetary governor and the first non-noble planetary governor, Krista moves forward with pale eyes bright towards the future. Being governor of Home of Plasma gives her a progressive outlook upon the world and has sought to give more to the advancement of technology and schooling upon her world. 6’1’’ with dark green hair.
Name: Noble Terran Volman Age: 79 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Bast Horus Age: 40 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:

Name: Noble Tivick Hordon Age: 89 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Heera Lock Age: 58 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Nobles Yin and Nim Khan Ages: 31 and 31 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel The twins Yin and Nim are male and female respectively. Under them are fresh, new colonies that they set up a friendly competition as to who could make their flourish the fastest. Together, they often speak to others in precise turns that sometimes confuse people as to who is talking, despite the gender difference. Both are 6’ and have bright blue hair with intense grins and green eyes.
Name: Noble Layl Hondor Age: 42 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Oboro Syndar Age: 45 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio:
Name: Noble Bran Nadar Age: 43 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Head of the newest colony of the Chilren of Steel, Bran Madar is a politically hungry man who is eagerly trying to make his way through the ranks. 6’1’’, dark green hair and bright green eyes, he married the Lord Admiral for the political gains rather than love, but has had a hard time using the marriage as leverage ad Brinda is far more interested in commanding and expanding rather than politicking.
Military Heads:
Name: Lord General Aizak Rastin Age: 34 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The commander of all ground forces, Aizak is a dedicated man to the king. 6’2’’ and a head of orange flames with bright blue eyes, he has a friendly rivalry with Brinda. He’s a military moderate and works to keep the mandatory service program intact, claiming that it helps keeps the military strong but keep lower budget overall.
Name: Lord Admiral Brinda Nadar Age: 37 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The commander of all naval forces, Brinda is considered a mild strategic genius when it comes to leading the Children of Steel. Rival and mentor to Aizak, she works to prepare him for future conflicts she predicts will happen as the faction continues to expand into space. She also championed the exploration cruisers, the Pathfinder class. She’s 5’9’’ with grey hair and eyes, despite her age. Her marriage to Noble Governor Bran Madar is one where she isn’t truly passionate about.
Name: Noble Commander Neela Brinta Age: 20 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: As the commander of special operations, Neela is a short 4’10’’ with black hair and green eyes. Holding a secret love for the crown prince, she focuses on work to try and ignore her own feelings. And work well she certainly has as she’s the youngest commander of special operations. She claims that, most of what she learned, comes from Var Heshon and Lord Admiral Brinda Madar.
Name: Commander Verrak Orst Age: 63 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The commander of internal affairs. Little is known about him beyond that he is in this position. There are no pictures of him. What is known is that he is decently aged. What is rumored, the ones that sound credible at least, is that he is incredibly busy.
Economic Leaders:
Name: Roy Raqtar Age: 25 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Leader of the Steel Flotilla, Roy has carved out a significant economic portion for himself. He’s eager to explore and expand and heartily took to Brinda’s exploration cruiser, dubbing it the Pathfinder class. He regrets his argument with Jane Nett and seems prepared to make amends. He’s 5’4’’ with bright blue hair and eyes that fits his cheery smile.
Name: Jane Nett Age: 33 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Head of Sun Flare, Jane is a grim, traditional business woman who is set on turning the economic situation of the kingdom around, and fill her pockets. She’s satisfied with her argument with Roy and expects him to make amends quite soon. In the meantime, she’s preparing for the next major square off between Derlav as they both try to get system mining rights. 5’11’’ with a narrow face that holds sharp grey, owl-like eyes and a head of brown hair.
Name: Derlav Rider Age: 41 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The coporate head of Derlav’s Divers and a self-made success story. 6’5’’ with brown eyes and no hair, Derlav produces his own ships for his business. Despite the expense and the relatively small fleet he has, the effectiveness of his mining allows him to compete with Jane’s Sun Flare. He’s currently hoping to get some system contracts that have rich, but uninhabitable, worlds.
Name: Grit Dawn Age: 120 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The eccentric leader of Plasma, Grit Dawn is all about making the newest of plasma technology line. He receives significant funding from the military, the government, and young Roy, all of which he’s fairly decent friends with. An old man with a good sense of humor and who is never afraid to dive into science. Some say he’s going to live as long as the sun he was born under. Grey-white, frazzled hair and keen white eyes, Grit is a man who acts as if he were still 60.
Our Dear Others:
Name: Captain Krix Varz Age: 35 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Captain of the exploration cruiser, Steelborn, Krix stands around 6’5’’ with blue-grey eyes and tan hair. He’s a calm, confident man who served as captain of a frigate for twelve years before achieving the coveted posistion of being a captain of one of these cruisers. He’s eager to see what’s out there in the verse.
Name: Trish Grey Age: 22 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The chief machinist of the Steelborn, Trish walks at a ‘stunted’ 5’ with bright yellow eyes and black hair. Energetic, eager, and a mild pyromaniac, Trish loves working in the drive core and eagerly experiments as to how to tune it to make it give out that extra .01%.
Name: Var Heshon Age: 64 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: The commander of the marine detachment on the Steelborn, Var takes his duties fairly seriously. He stands a solid 6’3’’ with grey hair and green eyes. A veteran of the famed and dreaded “Plasma Stream,” Var still carries his plasma thrower and old armor. Grim, but with a gentle side and a habit for late night drinking, but a rare drunk.
Name: Erwin Thresht Age: 53 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Chief scientist of the Steelborn, Erwin is a surprisingly bland man, possibly a sociopath. He’s 5’8’’ and has dark brown hair with matching eyes. He acts simply and stolidly and works diligently to discover the secrets of the universe.
Name: Yinwa Felt Age: 20 Species: Children of Steel Allegiance: Children of Steel Bio: Steelborn’s helmswoman, Yinwa is a graceful 6’ woman with long blond hair and black eyes. She’s been under Krix for several years and prefers flying a frigate over the cruiser but her desire to explore was greater so she followed Krix onto the cruiser and is more than willing to put it through its paces.

(You can create your own corporation and military sector. They MUST be run by me first.)
(Any character who is lower than the rank of ship captain does not need to be run by me. I will make sure they are lore friendly and notify you as to any changes needed.) | |
