An aristocratic Empire with it's capital in present day Hawaii, it's government is ruled by an Emperor with supreme rule. Under the Emperor is his royal magistrates, the Furios.

The Empire has an overarching caste system with the Detrya caste being the only ones to actually be able to get the title of Furio.

Under the Detrya caste is the Wark caste, the lords and aristocrats.

Under the Wark caste is the Merial caste, which is made up of merchants, traders, and artisans.

The army of the Varyakian Empire is mostly conscripted from the Therym caste and given basic equipment to use, although some roles require more skill and come from other various castes...

Here's one of the many kinds of militia swordsmen around the Empire

All militia must have a basic longsword and some kind of leather/metal armor given to them by officials and since they are recruited straight from the peasantry, these fighters are inexperienced and aren't expected for long one on one combat.

Here's an Erishian archer from the central Varykian dessert

They are recruited straight from the bow artisans of the Wark caste and are very skilled with their bows, being able to accurately shoot an eagle going full speed about 50 miles away.

As of around 500 years after the Cataclysm (AC) the Varykians have started using gunpowder based weapons to varying effectand some battles have been fought with these "smokers" (named after the huge amount of smoke the weapons use) with many casualties. Still the Empire has continued it's research into these weapons as some veterans have been more accurate than archers provided the weapon doesn't break, jam, or misfire.

Here's four versions of the Longbow Musket, created and used around 550 AC
Empire of the Varyaks 548
Musket A, which is the 545 Longbow Musket, is the most recent and most reliable. It can get an accurate kill at a range of 60 miles when used by an experienced marksman, although novice shooters can't hit anything past 10 feet due to slight inaccuracies inherent in the gun and inability to aim. At favorable temperatures of around 89 degrees it has a chance of jamming only 1 in 10 shots and even more rarely misfires. The only reasons this weapon isn't in mass use is because of the inaccuracy of novice shooters and the cost of manufacturing the weapon (since there's no industrialization the weapon needs to be carved out by hand by an expert craftsman), which, if any flaws are present, will misfire and break.
